Eric Singer, the co-writer of American Hustle (alongside director David O. Russell) joins The Lunch Podcast this week; after dining at Hugo’s in West Hollywood, Singer and host James Rocchi discussed everything from his childhood cinema ‘gateway drug’ The Z Channel, to what it’s like to interview a retired professional con man for three weeks. Other topics discussed include the script’s 16-year genesis, how truth is both stranger but also less plausible than fiction, great breakfasts in West Hollywood, his work as a collaborator with Russell, the role of music in his writing process and, finally, the true origin of the phrase ‘science oven.’
