Fans eager to hear Broken Bells’ upcoming After the Disco can tide themselves over with this two-part short film starring Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Kate Mara (House of Cards).  Broken Bells (James Mercer and Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton) collaborated with POPfilms and director Jacob Gentry to create a short film as haunting, trippy and atmospheric as their music; part indie rock, part orchestral swirl, with elements of dance and tribal beats — and even a few synth breaks that briefly recall Queen’s soundtrack to Flash. The short is based on a story by Burton.

This isn’t Broken Bells’ first journey into space: Their first album produced a video starring Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks as a lonely space traveler forced to pawn off body parts in order to continue her passage, also produced by POPfilms and directed by Gentry.
